Vesta curry … I remember they were very “daring” dishes. That takes me back.

Oh, how lovely to reminisce about food. I recall how my twin brother would butter up the school chef in primary school so he always had bigger portions and not the dread vegetables. I remember being in love with steamed syrup pudding and custard at secondary school. The pudding had to be shared between 8 and the server always seemed to have a bigger slice somehow!? Love your camaraderie Lindsey and Michael. Keep at it and carry on please!!!! ❤️❤️

You are so kind, Meryl. It's hard to gauge how it's going so it's lovely to hear you are enjoying the podcast. We are certainly enjoying doing it! There's so much to talk about with food, I think we could go on for hours. I think our school dinners were quite good compared to now, I remember going to my son's primary school about ten years ago for Mother's Day lunches etc and the food was awful. And I still love steamed pudding and custard! Hope you are having a lovely birthday week. x

I don't remember ever eating it, Lily, but Michael does. It does seem funny now thinking of the things I really liked, tinned ravioli - that's something I just thought of! Yuk, I wouldn't dream of eating it now.

No, I don't Lily! I remember tinned sponge puddings that were boiled in a saucepan and my mum was always worried about letting them boil dry. I remember tinned ham, she used to buy that to make sandwiches to take on holiday, - a couple of months a go I bought a tin just to try it, it was so salty and slimy, horrible stuff but we liked it at the time.
