Wow, Lindsey, I’ve just come across your Substack in notes. Your poetry is brilliant, you’re clearly a natural poet and storyteller. Your voice reminds me of home too, I left the south east many years ago, but the accent still reminds me of my roots. Thank you for sharing your work, it’s made my day. ☺️

Oh how kind of you Lynn, poetry is very new to me but I am loving it and honestly wondering if after 63 years of tinkering about with so many forms of creativity I have stumbled across my 'thing' at long last. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and encouragement. Lovely to meet you. x

I did enjoy listening to you read this Lindsey and it brought back memories of doing exactly the same thing and being convinced that prune stones could predict my future

I have just realised Gina that I added in ‘Spy’ which is from the title of a film, not the rhyme! What a plonker! I’m glad you enjoyed it, I think after 63 years Gina I might have found my thing (although I said that about all the other ‘things!)🤣

I didn’t really notice and it was a lovely poem. You definitely have a knack for it. I would love to find time to write more but there just so many pulls on my time. I actually said no to someone this afternoon (very politely) and it felt so good. I’m too much of a people pleaser!

Ooh yes - that saying 'no' is so empowering and a new experience for me too. It's crazy when you actually think about it, Gina, pleasing other people is wonderful but the times I have said yes and ending up feeling completely miserable and stressed! At the same time I am learning to say 'yes' to other things which is also great, this ageing lark is quite an eye-opener sometimes! x

Oh yes! I don’t mind getting older in the least… but I wish it wasn’t happening quite so quickly 😂

I quite enjoyed this, Lindsey. I did not eat prunes when young, but my parents did. The poem is very good.

In the winter I eat them every day on my breakfast porridge, I love them. I really do appreciate your kind comment, Perry, thank you. I hope you and Arya are well. x

For the past two years I've been dabbling in nature poetry, rekindling in a way my childhood hobby of checking out poetry books from the library. But, since there are no English libraries here in the northern mountains of Romania, I've taken to creating poetic lines, rather than reading them. It's lovely to hear you speak your poem(s) into existence. Thank you for the inspiration!

And there is nothing quite like nature for inspiration! What a beautiful part of the world to call home, you must be surrounded by incredible things to write about - keep on with your poetry and thank you for your very kind comment. I'm finding Substack a wonderfully inspiring place, so it's nice to think I've inspired someone else, thank you very, very much. x

Hi Lindsey

Im impressed that you’ve only just started writing poetry you are very good at it! I also grew up in London during the 60’s but thankfully we didn’t have prunes for breakfast 🤣I don’t think I would have liked them. This made me giggle 🤭 xx
